Sulfates are surfactant salt which is mainly used for their deep cleansing properties and for their ability to create foam. They are usually found in like body wash, shampoo, facial cleansers, and toothpaste, as well as in household cleaning products.
Most hair products contain two types of sulfates Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), Sodium laureth sulfate (SLES). The problems that the use of sulfate presents are that they are very aggressive detergents, it’s a very effective and strong cleanser so it strips your hair and scalp from its natural moisture oils, with frequent use it will leave your hair dry and brittle. Moreover, if you have sensitive scalp, sulfates can cause irritation, redness, dryness, etc.
There is a general concern that sulfate free shampoo’s doesn’t foam well!
because most of us think that the more foam the shampoo produce the better it cleans our hair but that’s not true, the foaming volume depends on the formulation of the product since there are a lot of natural foaming agents, also foaming is not linked to cleansing, meaning a product can produce no foam and still clean your hair very well. There are a lot of benefits if you decided to switch sulfate free hair products, First of all it will retain the natural moisture of your hair and if you have chemically treated hair or dyed hair it will help repair the damage and breath back life into your hair, also it has the power to retain the color of your dyed hair since it wont strip the color out of it.
